Bolivia

Bolivia started producing coffee in the 1880’s and today contributes to the world coffee production based on its own, unique geography. An estimated 95% of the coffee is made on 1-8 hectare plantations, growing mostly Arabica coffee.  The growing regions of Bolivian coffee have an altitude range of 1400-1600 meters above sea level and are mainly centered in the Yungas region where 95% of the coffee is grown, as well as Santa Cruz, Beni, Cochabamba, Tarija and Pando.

The center of Bolivian coffee, the Yungas, is known for its high elevations and seasonal temperatures, which allow for good coffee growth. Some of the characteristics of Bolivian coffee include: a medium body, bright acidity, a fruity flavor and sweet, aromatic notes.
